Crime author Dale Hudson has been reported missing after his car was found abandoned in Marion County, S.C., authorities say.
The (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) Sun reported Sunday the 56-year-old author told his wife last week he was going out of town on a business trip, but police found his vehicle unoccupied in a wooded area on Friday.
Hudson's wife told police her husband had called her a few hours after he left town Wednesday to inform her he was stopping to rest because of a migraine headache.
Horry County police Sgt. Robert Kegler said Hudson, who is known for his books about infamous homicides that occurred in the area, never contacted his wife after that Wednesday conversation.
Crime scene investigators, along with members of a violent crimes unit, have already visited the site where Hudson's car was found.
The Sun said among Hudson's more notable books are Die, Grandpa, Die,
a story about a 2001 incident in which a 12-year-old boy killed his grandparents, and Dance of Death,
the tale of a woman who had her husband killed as they celebrated their anniversary.
