Bayless eatery offering ‘Masters’ menu

Chef Rick Bayless is offering his winning Top Chef Masters menu at his Topolobampo restaurant in Chicago, a worker at the eatery says.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported Friday the four-course meal prepared by Bayless for the finale of the Bravo cooking competition is being offered at Topolobampo for $90. Also included in the price is a peach tart dessert not featured in the TV show’s finale.

Bayless said watching himself compete in the Bravo competition was an emotional experience due to his comments about his father.

I didn’t remember having said all that stuff at the end about my dad, and I found myself sitting there, sobbing, said Bayless, who was one of there competing chefs asked to plan a menu based on their lives.

He was a barbecue pit master. He died when I was 20. And all of a sudden, I’m seeing pictures of me with him right before he died.

The Sun-Times said the Masters tasting menu at Topolobampo will only be offered for four weeks.
