CIG Launches Fire-Safety Awareness Program With Official Sponsorship of L.A.’s Summer Send-Off

August 26, 2009

MONTEREY, Calif., Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ — Western-region insurer CIG (Capital Insurance Group) — www.ciginsurance.com — announced today that the company will be an official sponsor of Los Angeles Magazine’s Summer Send-Off, to be held Sept. 3 at The Grove Shopping Center from 4-7 p.m. The event — which will feature live music and performances, as well as activities for kids and parents — gives CIG a head start on National Fire-Safety Prevention Month, which begins Oct. 1.

CIG’s focus at the Summer Send-Off is to encourage families to proactively take fire-prevention steps at home, and to plan and rehearse what to do in the event of a fire. Each child will leave CIG’s booth with a family-photo button, fire-safety coloring book and crayons and fire escape plan flyer– all reinforcing fire safety and the need to plan and practice emergency evacuations.

“Our sponsorship of the Summer Send-Off is extremely meaningful for CIG because it allows us to connect with people regarding fire safety — a subject that needs to be discussed year-round,” President and CEO Peter Cazzolla said. “Practice makes perfect, and every family needs to discuss fire safety and what to do if a fire occurs at home. A family’s security and safety should not be left to chance, so it’s important that parents prepare an escape plan and practice it with their children.”

Attending the event from CIG will be Anaheim Branch Manager Marta Greger and Territorial Manager Scott Ressler. Independent Insurance Advisors Scott Decker and Harry Crusberg of Crusberg-Decker Insurance in Pasadena will answer questions pertaining to fire safety and preparedness. CIG will highlight its “Think Twice Coverage(TM)” for homeowners. This program provides twice the payout amount of insurance coverage for a dwelling, if that’s what it will cost to rebuild after a disaster.

A prize drawing will take place every 15 minutes at the CIG booth (adjacent to the American Girl store). Among the exciting prizes are dinner and an overnight stay at a local luxury hotel and museum passes.

The event will be co-sponsored by The Protector Network — www.theprotectornetwork.com — a first-of-its-kind safety, security and savings benefit program. All CIG clients receive a complimentary membership in The Protector Network, which provides tips on preparing and practicing escape routes at home and work. Members also receive advice on fireproofing, as well as valuable discounts on fire-prevention products.

“Our membership goal is to empower CIG’s policy clients and to make them proactive in providing for their own safety,” said Sandie Borthwick, program administrator for The Protector Network. “We are genuinely excited to get this information in people’s hands, because it truly can save lives.”

The Grove is located at 189 The Grove Drive, Los Angeles. For more information on Summer Send-Off, please visit www.lamag.com.
