Manning Brothers Get Ready for ‘Double Trouble’ With ‘The Donalds’
NEW YORK, Aug. 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — In response to the launch of the new Golden Double Stuf Oreo cookies, Donald J. Trump announced today that he is pursuing a “golden” business opportunity by attempting to purchase the Oreo Double Stuf Racing League (DSRL). In the latest exciting installment of the Oreo DSRL ad campaign, which launches nationally on Aug. 31, Oreo rejects Mr. Trump’s bid to buy the league. Much like the Manning brothers challenged last year’s league-newcomers, Venus and Serena Williams, Mr. Trump challenges the quarterback brothers to a lick-off for the League and enlists a partner of his own: comedian and actor Darrell Hammond.
Oreo senior brand director John Ghingo says Mr. Trump and Mr. Hammond were a natural fit for the popular DSRL campaign given the newest “golden” cookies.
“We are thrilled for Mr. Trump to put his own creative ‘twist’ on the league,” said Ghingo. “He is a natural choice for this phase because of his fierce competitive nature and ‘golden’ touch when it comes to business. It makes sense that the launch of the new Golden Double Stuf Oreo cookies would attract Mr. Trump to the League, helping to expand the DSRL beyond sports into the entertainment and business worlds.”
The newest Oreo DSRL ads, directed by critically-acclaimed director Peter Berg, features the foursome in Mr. Trump’s boardroom, where it all comes down to an Oreo Double Stuf lick race as the determining factor of whether Mr. Trump gets the league or if it remains open to all Oreo fans. The two teams will face off in a lick-off event in January to determine the fate of the DSRL.

Twisting, Licking and Dunking Tradition
The Oreo Double Stuf Racing League (DSRL) is a fun activity that family and friends can enjoy together. The only real “equipment” needed is an original Oreo Double Stuf or Golden Double Stuf Oreo cookie, a single glass of milk and someone to compete against. To start the race, each person twists their cookie open and licks off all the creme. Then, each person shows their cookie to their opponent, dunks it, eats it and drinks the glass of milk. The first to finish twisting, licking and dunking wins!
The DSRL officially launched in January 2008 with the Manning brothers. They were joined by the Williams sisters in August 2008 and the sibling duos competed for DSRL supremacy in January 2009. In April 2009, the DSRL welcomed its first official sponsor, AstroTurf(R). Now the League’s profile is raised to an entirely new level as Mr. Trump attempts to get in on the action.
