Madonna is booed at Romanian concert

Pop star Madonna drew jeers from a 60,000-strong crowd at a Romanian concert when she denounced the discrimination against Gypsies, footage on YouTube shows.

Gypsies, who are also known as Roma, are among Eastern Europe's most socially and economically disadvantaged minorities.

E! News said the singer was greeted with loud booing, as well as a limited amount of applause and cheers, at a Bucharest show Wednesday night when she preached tolerance to the crowd.

We believe in freedom and equal rights for everyone, right? Gypsies, homosexuals, people who are different; everyone is equal and should be treated with respect, OK? Let's not forget that, E! News quoted Madonna as saying.
