Arctic Monkeys thrill at British festival
The Arctic Monkeys put on a good show at the Reading Festival in Britain thanks to a featured mix of the rock band’s new and old material, an attendee says.
Scottish plumber Bobby Young, who was in attendance for Saturday’s show in the English city of Reading, said the rockers split their performance time between their older hits and songs from the band’s new album
Humbug, the BBC reported Sunday.
Arctic Monkeys front man Alex Turner said in July his band was more prepared for the 2009 British festival circuit compared with the band’s 2007 festival performances at events like the Glastonbury Festival.
Glastonbury taught us that; I think we grew up in some way, Turner told the BBC.
Other performers Saturday at the 2009 Reading Festival included Prodigy, Ian Brown and Maximo Park.
Friday’s performance line-up included Kings of Leon, Fall Out Boy and Placebo. Scheduled for Sunday, the final day of the Reading Festival, were Radiohead, Vampire Weekend and Bloc Party.
