Stars line up for ‘VH1 Hip Hop Honors’

Eminem, Young Jeezy, Rick Ross, Fabolous and Ludacris are among the stars slated to perform at the 6th annual VH1 Hip Hop Honors show, organizers said.

Also listed on the bill for the event, which will air on VH1 Oct. 13, are Method Man, Mary J. Blige, Redman, DMX, Ja Rule, The Roots, Public Enemy, ONYX, Kid Rock, Gym Class Heroes, Trey Songz, Scarface and Warren G.

Chris Rock, Jimmy Fallon and Brett Ratner have agreed to be presenters at the show, which will honor the 25th anniversary of Def Jam Records.

Def Jam has launched the careers of some of the biggest names in music history and has inspired other emerging labels and artists, VH1 said in a news release. Special homage will be paid to the architects of the label -- Rick Rubin, Russell Simmons, Kevin Liles, Lyor Cohen, Julie Greenwald, Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter and Antonio 'L.A.' Reid.

Comedian/actor Tracy Morgan is to serve as host of the show for the third consecutive year.

VH1 Hip Hop Honors 2009 is to be taped at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn, N.Y.
