Beyonce performs at Donetsk arena opening
U.S. pop star Beyonce performed at the opening of the Donbass Arena in Donetsk, Ukraine, the venue said.
The arena is the first soccer stadium in Eastern Europe to be designed and built to UEFA five-star standards. It will now become home to UEFA Cup Champions, FC Shakhtar.
Beyonce headlined the arena’s Aug. 29 grand opening ceremony, which was attended by more than 45,000 people.
Three of Ukraine’s most famous singers — Natal’ya Mogilevskaya, Svetlana Loboda, who represented Ukraine at the Eurovision 2009 song contest, and Aliona Vinnitskaya — also performed the rock band Queen’s famous anthem
