Watkins confused regarding ‘SNL’ dismissal
Comedian Michaela Watkins says she is not entirely sure why
Saturday Night Live producer Lorne Michaels fired her from the U.S. TV show.
During an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, Watkins said the only explanation she received from Michaels regarding her recent dismissal was she was talented enough to have her own sitcom, EW.com reported Friday.
I don't think anyone knows what Lorne Michaels was thinking, she said.
That's one of the exciting things about him. If he were to vanish the show would just freeze. Not a single thing would be shot because so much hinges on him.
He said it had nothing to do with talent. And I'm just going to go on that.
Watkins, who expressed interest on getting her own TV show, told Entertainment Weekly she suspects Michaels' decision may have been based on business matters.
I have a ton of respect for the man. He's also a businessman and he thinks about things that I don't think about and that might be reflected in this decision. I think this was more of a business decision than it was about talent, she said.
