Beatles game, song catalog to be released
The Beatles: Rock Band game and the British group’s original recorded catalog, digitally re-mastered, go on sale this week, industry officials say.
Apple Corps Ltd., MTV Games, Harmonix and EMI Music said the game and catalog will be available worldwide Wednesday.
‘The Beatles: Rock Band’ allows fans to pick up the guitar, bass, mic or drums and experience The Beatles’ extraordinary catalog of music through game play, the companies said in a news release.
From the early touring days in 1963 Liverpool to the immortal, final performance on Apple’s rooftop, fans can follow in The Fab Four’s footsteps as they traverse the globe during the height of Beatlemania, unlocking real photos and videos of The Beatles — some never before seen by the public.
The Beatles’ entire original recorded catalog has been digitally re-mastered for the first time by a team of engineers at EMI’s Abbey Road Studios during a four-year period. The songs will be sold individually and in a variety of digital and CD collection packages.
