CHICAGO, Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Oce Print 09 Booth 1863 -- Oce, an international leader in digital document management and delivery, today announced the new Oce VarioPrint 6320 Ultra cutsheet printer, the world's fastest, most productive digital perfecting system. This high-speed system clocks in at 306 8.5"x11" letter-size prints per minute (ppm) (A4-size at 314 ppm), extending Oce's leadership into a new 300+ ppm segment. The Oce VarioPrint 6320 model is the centerpiece of the new Oce VarioPrint 6000 Ultra line, the fastest, most productive family of ultra high speed, high volume digital perfecting systems. This robust platform is built to sustain monthly duty cycles up to 10 million prints, ideal for the persistent demand for greater productivity in the growing digital book publishing market. New Oce ScreenPoint technology quality control and Oce open platform integration bring greater productivity to a variety of production environments.
Just two years after introducing the popular Oce VarioPrint 6000 family in 2007, Oce established leadership in the crowded cutsheet segment with the first system to exceed 200 ppm. According to the InfoTrends report, U.S. Production Copying & Printing Market Placements: 2008 (April 15, 2009), for the 200+ ppm single-function monochrome cutsheet printer segment, Oce achieved the top share position with 58 percent of placements in 2008. Now Oce again sets benchmarks for speed, reliability, performance and productivity with the Oce VarioPrint 6320 Ultra system, which establishes the standard for a new class of 300+ ppm "Ultra High Volume" (UHV) devices.
"The original Oce VarioPrint 6000 series introduced corporate and commercial print operations to breakthrough levels of productivity, but that was just the first step. Oce once again raises the bar with the next evolution of award-winning Oce Gemini Instant Duplex technology and the world's fastest cutsheet printer. Now customers can reach out to new markets and applications using proven perfecting press capabilities and ultra high speed and high volume capacity," said Eric de Goeijen, Vice President, Marketing, Oce North America Production Printing Systems division. "We expect tremendous customer demand, given the outstanding capabilities of the Ultra platform."
First Installation at Red Book Solutions
Red Book Solutions is the first installation of the new Oce VarioPrint 6320 Ultra technology. Red Book Solutions is the leading provider of tailor-made tools for managers across a variety of industries. "We chose the new Oce VarioPrint 6320 Ultra system for a number of reasons. We were attracted by the productivity improvements we will gain over our previous systems. Some jobs will take less than half the time it took on our old equipment. We can actually decrease the number of machines on the floor, while practically doubling our productivity. This translates into reduced costs for labor and overhead. The reliability and print quality of the Oce VarioPrint Ultra remain consistent even across long runs, and our operators are impressed with the ease of use, which in turn adds to their productivity. Because we will be able to do more work with less effort, the Oce VarioPrint Ultra contributes to greater profitability for Red Book," said Tom Frengillo, Director of Operations at Red Book Solutions.
Benefits for Corporate and Commercial Environments
As part of the new Oce VarioPrint Ultra line of printers, the Oce VarioPrint 6320 Ultra system offers significant advances in speed, quality, productivity, media flexibility, scalability, connectivity and environmental sustainability. The new speed level creates more opportunities for customers to take on more types of jobs, and the groundbreaking system will quickly find a place with high-end in-house and digital print shops and commercial printers, as well as corporate and commercial transaction environments. Customers can also replace multiple production printing systems with a single Oce VarioPrint 6320 Ultra system, driving down costs, footprint, manpower requirements, and energy consumption.
Book Printing Gains Unmatched Productivity
As the market embraces the attractive advantages of digital book printing, the new Oce VarioPrint 6320 Ultra system brings unmatched productivity and throughput to this profitable application. Coinciding with the rising popularity of digital book printing, the new system is perfectly featured to help customers succeed in this growing market.
In printing book blocks, the Oce VarioPrint 6320 is 60 percent more productive than competitive cutsheet systems. In a typical run of two-up 6"x9" books averaging 300 pages on 150 sheets, the Oce VarioPrint 6320 Ultra system can produce 2,950 book blocks during a three-shift operation, far surpassing the competition. Near-perfect registration, superior quality, media flexibility for light, heavy and coated stocks, and multiple in-line and near-line finishing options make the Oce VarioPrint 6320 Ultra system a premier solution for digital book production.
Oce Format Independence Creates Workflow Versatility, Integration Ease
The Oce VarioPrint 6000 Ultra line is not dependent on any proprietary file formats and offers full integration with Oce PRISMA(R) workflow solutions for graphic arts, transaction, in-house and digital print shops. With seamless interoperability, customers can direct existing applications to Oce VarioPrint 6320 Ultra systems without workflow interruptions or programming delays. With Oce DPLink(TM) and new Oce KDKLink software, the system can easily integrate with both legacy Xerox(R) and Kodak(R) applications without reprogramming. Print service providers can conveniently replace older systems in established mixed environments. The new Oce PRISMAsync(TM) controller handles jobs from a variety of workflows and retains job ticket settings and media attributes. Designed as true convergence printers, Oce VarioPrint 6320 Ultra systems can easily handle native IPDS transaction applications, and with the push of a button, customers can switch to on-demand publishing jobs without re-booting.
Tunable Print Control for Rich Tones and Outstanding Quality
New Oce ScreenPoint technology provides the Oce VarioPrint 6320 Ultra system with intelligent screening and tunable print quality to support image-rich applications. Oce ScreenPoint technology eliminates guesswork and automatically renders difficult print applications in smooth, high-definition black and white. Color files are exceptionally represented as in near-perfect grey scale without sacrificing lines per inch (lpi).
Oce tunable print quality lets pre-press staff and key operators improve image quality of originals with contrast control and adjustments to image lightness and darkness. The result is high quality tonal fidelity with no loss of detail. Commercial and corporate printers can eliminate manual workflow bottlenecks in pre-press and production. Print providers and clients alike benefit from predictable, high output quality.
