Beyonce wins VMA for video of the year

Beyonce won the MTV Video Music Award for video of the year Sunday night for her hit Single Ladies.

Thank you. Wow. This is amazing. I remember being 17 years old, up for my first MTV Award with Destiny's Child, and it was one of the most exciting moments of my life, Beyonce told the audience at Manhattan's Radio City Music Hall. So, I'd like for Taylor to come out here and have her moment. Where are you?

After a moment, during which the crowd cheered, Taylor Swift appeared on stage to finish her acceptance speech for the best female video award she won earlier in the evening for her song You Belong With Me.

Rapper Kanye West interrupted Swift's speech, took the microphone away from her and declared Beyonce's video -- which was also nominated in the category -- one of the best videos of all time.

Accepting Beyonce's gracious invitation, Swift returned to the stage, hugged the other singer and said to the audience, Maybe we could try this again?

She then went on to thank the director of the video, her fans and her little brother's high school for letting her shoot the video there.
