Rustic 'Green' Golf: Introducing a Classic Lawn Game Called Adirondack Golf, Played on Any Terrain

Posted on: Tuesday, 15 September 2009, 06:40 CDT

NEWPORT, R.I., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Adirondack Golf originated in the early 1900's on a private camp in the Adirondack region, and was played exclusively there by 5 generations of families. As of June 2009, Adirondack Golf is available to the public with a product crafted entirely in the USA. The game is played using oversized wooden clubs and a semi-hard oversized ball. In this game the players design and set up their own course on any un-groomed terrain such as backyards, parks, woods, fields, etc.

Using a normal golf swing, a shot played with Adirondack Golf equipment travels from 10 to 55 yards depending on the loft of the club used. Players of all ages and abilities can enjoy the game because the combination of the oversized wooden heads and a softer, oversized ball results in a "forgiving" game, making it easy for any player to advance the ball. Up to 8 players can share one set of Adirondack Golf clubs.

The game of Adirondack Golf is particularly well-suited for families to play or to enjoy at any gathering of friends and colleagues. The game and equipment can be used for teaching golf to players of any age.

Adirondack Golf is a real golf alternative to regular golf considering the cost of country club memberships, regulation golf equipment, time considerations and greens fees. There is virtually no environmental impact caused by the playing of Adirondack Golf, and site requirements are a fraction of that needed for regular golf.

Equipment: Adirondack Golf's high-quality clubs are made with heads crafted out of sustainable US-sourced hardwood with American hickory shafts, all assembled and finished entirely in New England. The game consists of: 5 clubs (4 lofted clubs and a putter), a set of 6 balls and 6 stakes (or 6 cups and flags) - all contained in a canvas carrying bag.

The official regulatory body for Adirondack Golf is the non-profit USAGA, which sanctions any official tournament and equipment used in the game.

The parent company of Adirondack Golf is Heirloom Sports, Inc. of Newport, RI.
