Houston says she’s not using ‘weed, coke’
U.S. recording artist Whitney Houston says her faith in God now helps her resist the temptation of drugs.
Houston, 46, is making a professional comeback after her career was eclipsed for years by her stormy relationship with her ex-husband Bobby Brown, his legal woes and her addiction to drugs. Her new CD,
I Look to You, was No. 1 on the U.S. album chart when it first came out and is No. 3 this week.
Don’t think I don’t have desires for (drugs,) People.com quoted Houston as saying on
The Oprah Winfrey Show Tuesday in the second part of her two-part interview with Winfrey.
It takes me a minute to cleanse … I have to pray it away.
The singer admitted in the segment that aired Monday that she had been a heavy user of marijuana and rock cocaine in the past.
Although Houston said on Tuesday’s show she occasionally enjoys a alcoholic beverage, she insisted
no weed, no coke.
If I get weak, I know who I can turn to, People.com reported she said.
I know God loves me.
