DENVER, Sept. 16 /PRNewswire/ — The anticipated speaking engagement by Greg Mortenson, best-selling author of Three Cups of Tea, Nobel Peace Prize nominee and founder of award winning international youth program Pennies for Peace, at Red Rocks Amphitheatre is now free and open to the public, but tickets are required. The shift to free admission was announced today by the Pennies for Peace office, in an effort to make Mortenson’s and other teen activists’ speaking engagements more accessible to Colorado’s youth and help inspire a “global call to service.”

Doors will open at 5 p.m. for free admission to more than 6,000 seats. Parking is also free. While walk-ins are welcome on Sept. 20, free ticket pick-up stations include the following locations:

  • Twist and Shout, 2508 E. Colfax Ave., Denver
  • ReadyTalk, 1598 Wynkoop St., Denver
  • Jonesy’s Eatbar, 400 E. 20th Ave., Denver
  • Barnes & Noble, 14347 W. Colfax Ave. (Denver West), Lakewood

Those who previously purchased tickets can contact Tickets West for reimbursement, however original tickets will still be honored at the event. Call 866-464-2626 or visit http://wr-ticketswest.rdln.com/.

“We want everyone – from teens to adults – to walk away from this concert and speaking event, knowing they can make a stand in their own communities for causes that inspire them – from human issues to social causes and environmental issues,” said Mortenson. “This is about outreach, education, peace and openness. What better way to communicate those messages than through a ticketless event.”
