Damon not in hurry to tackle directing
U.S. actor Matt Damon says he is not in a hurry to make his directorial debut since his acting career is allowing him to learn from great directors.
The 38-year-old star of the
Bourne film franchise said he considers actor-director Clint Eastwood, who helmed such films as
Million Dollar Baby and
Unforgiven, his role model when it comes to directing, The Boston Globe reported Sunday.
It could be next year or five years from now,” Damon told the Globe. I’m not in a race to start doing it. I feel like I’m getting so much experience with great directors. All I’m doing is learning more.”
He told me he never took a job directing except for himself, added Damon, speaking of Eastwood.
The Informant! actor told the Globe he is enjoying the freedom associated with his cinematic popularity of being able to pick and choose what film projects he joins.
No one is on the A list forever,” he said. But I like the ability to control my choices right now. That could get addictive. It’s a great feeling not to have to take a job other than because I really want to do it.”
