NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Recognized as the highest-attended annual sporting event in the world, the 2009 US Open recently concluded after a grueling and exciting few weeks of tournament play. Contemporary Services Corporation (CSC), the largest event security firm in the world, and its newest division, Special Events II, provided the security services for this year's tournament after being awarded a five-year contract in June. CSC provided services throughout the sprawling Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, the home of the US Open and the world's largest public tennis facility.

While the US Open consistently ranks as the most-attended sporting event in the world, the 2009 tournament was experienced by more fans on-site, on television, and online than ever before. This year's Open drew an all-time record attendance of 721,059 fans and spanned throughout three weeks of tennis activity including practice sessions, qualification matches, and the actual tournament play. In spite of the short timeline, CSC was able to recruit and staff an average daily call of more than 300 personnel, including security officers for various roles such as executive/VIP protection, player escorts, on-court protection, anti-doping teams, and other critical security positions. CSC's services were provided under the direction of Michael J. Rodriguez, US Open Director of Security.
Although the 2009 US Open has just recently concluded, Vice President of Special Events II, Scott Dennison and his team are already strategically planning for next year. "By all accounts this was a successful event, but we always strive for perfection in the execution of our operations and we will spend the next year looking at ways to better integrate the tremendous CSC support teams and improve our service even more. This is about relationships and ensuring that our customer is satisfied on all levels," said Dennison. CSC Founder and CEO, Damon Zumwalt, added that he is "extremely proud to have the US Open as a client and very pleased with the addition of Scott Dennison, who brings extensive event experience and expertise to the CSC team."
CSC is the world leader in fully-managed event staffing, crowd management, security, and guest services for both the entertainment and sporting event industries. CSC's 42 years of experience have resulted in a loyal and esteemed client base, including more than 100 stadiums and arenas, over 70 universities and colleges, more than 20 convention centers, and numerous clients in the MLB, MLS, NBA, NFL, NHL, and NASCAR.
