ATLANTA, Sept. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- SEEBURGER today announced its inclusion on Software Magazine's 27th annual Software 500 ranking of the world's largest software and service providers. SEEBURGER, a privately held provider of global business integration solutions with more than 7,800 customers and 18 international subsidiaries, ranked in the top half in the 231st spot based on revenues.
SEEBURGER's software and services enable manufacturers, retailers and other organizations to exchange purchase orders and other transaction documents with customers and suppliers electronically. The company's technology eliminates the delays, costs and errors associated with manual data entry; shortens lead times and time to market by accelerating the availability of information to all members of the supply chain; and supports complex processes such as just-in-time and just-in-sequence production that rely on near-real-time communication between manufacturers and component suppliers.
Customers using SEEBURGER technology include automotive manufacturers and their suppliers as well as enterprises in the aerospace/defense, chemical, consumer packaged goods/ retail, energy/utilities, finance, insurance, manufacturing, paper, pharmaceutical/healthcare, and high-tech/telecommunications industries.
The Software 500 is a revenue-based ranking of the world's largest software and services suppliers. The ranking is based on total worldwide software and services revenue for 2008, including revenues from software licenses, maintenance and support, training and software-related services and consulting. Suppliers are not ranked on their total corporate revenue because many have other lines of business such as hardware.
The financial information was gathered by a survey prepared by King Content Co. as well as from public documents. Some 44% of the 2009 Software 500 companies are privately held.
"The 2009 Software 500 results show that revenue growth in the software and services industry was healthy, with total Software 500 revenue of $491.3 billion worldwide for 2008 representing 8.8% growth from the previous year," said John P. Desmond, editor of Software Magazine and Softwaremag.com.
"The Software 500 helps CIOs, senior IT managers and IT staff research and create the short list of business partners. It is a quick reference of vendor viability," Desmond said. "The online version at www.Softwaremag.com will be searchable by category, making it what we call the online catalog to enterprise software."
The complete list will be available online at www.Softwaremag.com in mid-September. To be alerted when it is posted, visit the site and click on "Subscribe."
