Twin Star Farms Sponsors First Gaited Horse Clinic in Pilot Point, TX

September 23, 2009

PILOT POINT, Texas, Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ — Twin Star Farms Fox Trotters is launching a series of clinics for owners of gaited horses. The first is to be held Oct. 23-25 at Midway Horse Services on Massey Rd. in Pilot Point, Texas and will feature Liz Graves, an accomplished clinician who teaches natural gaited horsemanship both in the US and internationally.

“For those who have read Lee Ziegler’s book “Easy Gaited Horses”, Graves is a contemporary of Ziegler’s and follows similar natural horsemanship techniques for helping gaited horses reach their potential,” said Twin Star Farms owner Katherine Kirkpatrick Stone. “We were advised by Elizabeth Koppolow of Lazy K Bar in Seguin that Graves would be a wonderful choice for our first clinic and the enthusiastic response has proven that was great advice.”

The clinic sold out within days of its being offered via the Internet. For those who would like to audit the clinic, there will be a 20-person minimum. The cost for auditing is $35 per day or $50 for Saturday and Sunday. Pre-registration is required.

The clinic will kick off with a trail ride at Lake Ray Roberts at 2 pm on Oct. 23 followed by the clinic at 9 am on both Oct. 24 and 25. 14 horse and rider combinations will receive one-on-one instruction on:

  • Conformation and gait
  • Saddle fitting and bitting
  • Proper gait and consistency of gait
  • Gaiting in hand
  • Achieving a canter with a gaited horse

“Riders are coming from all over the state,” said Stone. “And several breeds are represented including Fox Trotters, Walkers, and Mountain Horses.”
