Apl.de.Ap lends support to typhoon victims
Black Eyed Peas singer Apl.de.Ap is urging people to assist victims of the typhoon that swept through Manila during the weekend, killing at least 140 people.
Filipino military and civilian services rescued several thousand people during floods from torrential rains that deluged the capital. Local media estimated that flood waters from tropical storm typhoon Ketsana swept through 80 percent of Manila and much of the outlying provincial area, driving more than 25,000 people from their homes.
Dozens of people are still missing.
Apl, a native of the Philippines, requests that those interested in helping victims donate through the Apl Foundation relief fund at www.jeepneymusic.com.
My heart is broken to see so many of my Filipino brothers and sisters hurt by this disaster, the recording artist said in a statement.
We must all bond together and move forward to restore the city we hold dear. I’m asking the global community for their support and donations to assist the thousands of Filipinos affected by this tragedy.
