These women join the Avocado League Commissioner, Jennie Finch, professional softball player, Olympic gold medalist, wife, mother – and fan of avocados. She knows what it takes to stay at the top of her game – and that includes eating healthy.
Avocados from Mexico supply nearly 20 different types of vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients in a 1 oz serving making them a good nutrient choice. Plus, avocados have mono and polyunsaturated “good” fats, and current dietary guidelines recommend that most fat come from sources of mono and polyunsaturated fatty acids. Delicious taste and nutritious. . .can the avocado get any more amazing?
So, do you think the Chicago Style Avocado Chicken Pizza from Chicago is a homerun or is it a grand slam with the New York’s Mid-Town Mex Dog? You can also get into the game by submitting your own avocado recipe and showing the world that avocados aren’t just for guacamole anymore. Recipes will be selected at random and the site will feature a new recipe daily.
Votes will be counted from September 23 until October 14; with the winner announced on October 19. The recipe with the most votes will be awarded the Grand Slam prize package, hailed as the league’s champion and MVP, receive a $1,000 grocery gift card and a year’s supply of avocados. Second and third place winners will also receive prize packages.
