Reggae star attacked with samurai sword
Reggae star Major Mackerel suffered cuts on his hand and head when a neighbor allegedly attacked him with a samurai sword in New York, police said.
The New York Post said the 41-year-old musician, whose real name is Garfield Dixon, was injured in a fight Sunday morning with his neighbor, Oscar Joseph, 37, who was charged with assault, menacing and weapons possession.
Witnesses told the Post Joseph attacked Dixon with the 2-foot-long blade because he thought Dixon harassed his wife, an allegation the recording artist denied.
I came out this morning, walked past him singing my song, and we had a little fight,
Dixon told the newspaper. It’s just a big surprise to me.
Dixon, who was treated at a Brooklyn hospital for his wounds, said he was just trying to not get stabbed.
