Andrews prosecutor: There were others

Posted on: Monday, 5 October 2009, 22:21 CDT

An Illinois man accused of secretly videotaping ESPN reporter Erin Andrews in the nude shot similar video of other women, prosecutors alleged Monday.

During a bail hearing in Chicago for 48-year-old insurance company employee Michael David Barrett, Assistant U.S. Attorney Steve Grimes said Barrett videotaped other women in various states, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

He has used his computer to disseminate these videos to the world, Grimes said. He is a danger to other women, in this area and nationally.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Arlander Keys granted bail for Barrett, but ordered the suspect be confined to his home, except to go to work, and to be placed under electronic monitoring, CNN reported.

Barrett, who was arrested last week at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport, is accused of shooting the video of Andrews in Nashville last year with a camera phone through a peephole he altered in the door of her hotel room. He allegedly tried to sell the footage to celebrity gossip Web sites but was turned down.

The case is being transferred to Los Angeles, where Barrett is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 23 to face a charge of interstate stalking.
