Capital IQ Announces September 2009 Product Release, Featuring Commodities Data, Market Views, and Portfolio Management
NEW YORK, Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ — Capital IQ, a Standard & Poor’s business, today announced significant new data and functionality enhancements to its web-based platform with its September 2009 Release, featuring the addition of commodities data, Capital IQ Market Views, and basic Portfolio Management features. Capital IQ now includes detailed market data on over 60 commodity futures as well as historical and current pricing, contract information, and the ability to chart relative performance versus companies and other asset classes. The revamped Market Views section offers a central place to view and customize information, such as events, research, transactions, and aggregated financial data on companies, industries, and geographies within Capital IQ. With Capital IQ’s new basic Portfolio Management application, users can quickly upload their portfolios and holdings and then integrate these lists with existing Capital IQ Platform functionality.
In addition, Capital IQ has made significant enhancements to its data warehousing capabilities, including the ability to pull proprietary financial data and metrics through Screening and the Excel Plug-In. Capital IQ Estimates data also now includes new Index Aggregates for over 5,700 indices and the ability to distinguish between parent and consolidated estimate values.

- Enhanced Takeover Defense Data- includes new defenses, corporate governance with additional filings and key documents, and deeper state law information. Users can now access a comparison tab to compare one company’s takeover defenses to another company, industry, or index list.
- Screening Enhancements - new datasets in screening include proprietary data, takeover defenses, and geographic and business segment information. Users can also screen by and view results in multiple currencies using historical or data-specific conversion rates.
- New datasets added to the Capital IQ Excel Plug-In include commodities, CDS indices, detailed executive information, and proprietary data.
- Capital IQ has added new Credit Default Swap (CDS) Indices for a select number of Index families. Data items, such as constituents, bid, ask, mid, term, coupon, type, and currency can now all be viewed from the Credit Default Summary Page.
- Enhanced Ownership data enables users to click-through on ownership data items for common stock equivalent of shares and source back to the original filing.
- Improved Web Services – users can now access more content through Capital IQ Web Services including brokerage and independent research from over 1,000 providers, current analyst estimate recommendations, proprietary data, and Blackline Reports.
- Users can now integrate Capital IQ data into existing applications in Salesforce.com, such as company information, financials, and key developments.
- Additional enhancements – includes improved Key Documents, Searching, Capital IQ Mobile quotes for Blackberry, and Earnings Key Developments.
