NEW YORK, Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ — The New York advertising agency DeVito/Verdi received a healthy dose of industry recognition this week with 16 nominations for healthcare advertising awards from two prominent international industry shows.

The critically acclaimed agency garnered four nominations from The Global Awards, which honors creative and marketing excellence in healthcare communications throughout the world, and 12 award nominations from The Clio Healthcare Awards, which is an extension of the famed Clio Awards.

The agency was bestowed numerous nominations for work on behalf of three of its hospital clients: Massachusetts General Hospital (seven total nominations), Mount Sinai Medical Center (six nominations), and Abington Memorial Hospital (three nominations) in suburban Philadelphia.

“Healthcare advertising has become one of the most visible categories in advertising, and it’s not without its difficult challenges. That’s why it’s so rewarding to be recognized and honored by these two discerning awards shows,” said Ellis Verdi, president of DeVito/Verdi. “We’re extremely proud of our work on behalf of Mount Sinai, Mass General and Abington. It’s easy for an agency to do great work when your client is doing such great work.”

The Global Awards announced that the New York ad agency was the only recipient to receive a nomination in the Consumer Print Advertising category.

The Clio Healthcare Awards recognized the agency for three different healthcare accounts, naming the agency as a finalist in several categories:

Print: Direct to Consumer — Two Mount Sinai ads and two Massachusetts General Hospital ads have received nominations.

Print: Direct to Consumer Campaign — One Mount Sinai and two Mass General ad campaigns are in contention.

Radio: Direct to Consumer Campaign – One Abington Memorial Hospital campaign and one Mass General campaign.

Television: Direct to Consumer – One Abington Memorial Hospital commercial.

Television: Direct to Consumer Campaign – Abington Memorial Hospital campaign.

All of these moving and emotional healthcare ads created by DeVito/Verdi belie the agency’s reputation for humor and hard-hitting creative executions.

“It’s true that we’re known more for creating advertising that makes you laugh, but we’ve long contended that our serious side is riveting and just as effective in communicating a client’s message,” said Verdi.

Both awards shows will be held this November. The Clio Awards show will be held November 13 in New York City. The Global Awards will be held November 6 in Sydney, Australia.
