TransMedia Group Retained To Show How 'The Shield' Reduces Radiation From Cell Phones by 90 Percent

BOCA RATON, Fla., Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The first cell phone radiation blocker to be USA lab-tested and proven effective has retained TransMedia Group to make "The Shield" as reassuring and friendly to cell phone users as their ring tones.
TransMedia Group (www.transmediagroup.com) will launch a publicity campaign designed also to separate "The Shield" from a plethora of phony devices marketed on the Internet by unscrupulous sellers preying on people's fear of radiation.
"While the jury may still be out on the actual cancer risks of long-term cell phone radiation exposure, TransMedia's PR program for The Shield should give consumers some peace of mind," said Dr. Barbara Levine, The Shield's media spokesperson.
"In interviews, we will show before and after meter readings of how The Shield (www.buytheshield.com) blocks up to 90 percent of electromagnetic radiation from cell phone exposure," said Dr. Levine, Associate Professor of Public Health at Weill Cornell Medical College.
Dr. Levine also will present thermographic images of the head with no exposure to cell phone radiation compared to that of a head after just a 15-minute call, when yellow and red hues appear in areas of the brain indicating thermal effects.
"Unlike the rest of so-called shields advertised on the Internet, this USA-lab-tested and proven product attaches to the battery in your cell phone and you can actually see on a meter the radiation reduced significantly, which should make this a very graphic campaign," said TransMedia President Glen Calder.
Part of TransMedia's publicity campaign will recommend other precautionary steps cell phone users can take to reduce the risk of radiation exposure, such as using a headset or speakerphone.
Dr. Levine also recommends reserving the use of mobile phones for shorter conversations and recognizing that the effects of cellular damage may be greatest on the young, "so it might indeed be wise to limit children's use of cell phones and protect them with The Shield."
One of the best ways to avoid radiation risk is accomplished in a car by using external antenna, which moves the source of the radiation farther from you, she added.
TransMedia Group is a full-service, international firm serving clients worldwide since 1981.
