Newspapers Improve National Rankings Despite Model Change; Sunday Free Press Remains 6th Largest Sunday Newspaper in USA

DETROIT, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News each improved their national rankings based on circulation volumes according to the Audit Bureau of Circulation's FAS-FAX report issued today. The Free Press improved from the 20th largest daily newspaper in the country to 17th with an average daily circulation of 269,729. The Detroit News improved four spots from the 50th largest newspaper in the country to 46th with an average daily circulation of 167,849. The Sunday Free Press remains as the sixth largest Sunday newspaper in the country with an average of 560,188 copies.

These circulation figures are the first to be released since the Free Press and The Detroit News launched a new delivery model March 30. The report verifies that the majority of readers has remained loyal and has accepted this innovative delivery mix.
