Endurance Magazine’s Tar Heel 10 Miler to Finish in UNC’s Kenan Stadium

November 19, 2009

CHAPEL HILL, N.C., Nov. 19 /PRNewswire/ — Endurance Magazine publisher Steve Lackey gave the running community something to cheer about recently when he announced that the April 10, 2010 Tar Heel 10 Miler run will feature a new course with a thrilling finish inside UNC’s Kenan Football Stadium.

“In addition to the excitement of finishing inside Kenan Stadium, our new course is designed to showcase the gorgeous community of Chapel Hill — from downtown Franklin Street, to historic neighborhoods, to UNC’s campus, this route delivers an experience that can only be matched by such a landmark finish.”

Also new for 2010, is the Fleet Feet 4-mile run, also finishing in the stadium.

Partnered with the UNC Greater Alumni Association and student organizations, Endurance Magazine plans to fully integrate the campus, faculty, students, and residents of the culturally rich and diverse community and showcase it all with the Tar Heel 10 Miler, Chapel Hill’s signature event.

With capacity of 2,000 participants (early registration on December 1st at www.tarheel10miler.com) the event is poised to sell out quickly and secure its spot as North Carolina’s Premier Running Experience.

A leader in cultivating community through print and online media, Endurance Magazine featured cancer survivor and UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center patient Karla Werner, in its November issue. Werner plans to participate in the 2010 Tar Heel Miler. During her interview with Endurance Magazine, she said about the race, “I have to run it. After getting the care I received at the cancer center and with distance running such a big part of who I am, this event is a perfect match for me.”
