Covering Baby & Children’s Products, Fashion Accessories and Gifts &
Premiums, the Fairs showcased over 840 booths – an increase of nearly 80
percent from the previous events. In January 2011, the China Sourcing Fairs in
Shanghai are scheduled to expand to include Home Products and Underwear &
Swimwear.

Buyers attending the shows included international retailers such as
Auchan, Carrefour, Coles Group, Dorel, H&M, Procter & Gamble, MGB Metro,
Redcats and Swarovski. Buyers purchasing for the China domestic market
included those from Boshiwa, Goodbaby, Herborist, Juneyao Airlines,
Metersbonwe and Tony Wear.

President of Global Sources Exhibitions, Tommy Wong, said: “We had record
attendance at the Fairs, with more big name buyers sourcing for the domestic
market than ever before.

China’s exports surged by more than 17 percent year-on-year last
December, breaking 13 months of consecutive declines while imports increased
by more than 50 percent indicating very strong demand in the domestic market.

“To meet demand from buyers and suppliers, we have increased the number of
specialized sourcing events to six next year in Shanghai, which is now China’s
key hub to source products for the booming domestic market.”

One buyer, Division Merchandising Manager of Redcats Asia (Shanghai)
office, Jessica Shen, said: “China is one of our major sourcing markets. We
need to constantly look at suppliers to ensure we are giving our customers the
best products for the value. The China Sourcing Fairs in Shanghai give us a
range of sourcing options for the China market and we consistently discover a
number of new products from various suppliers.”

One supplier, Marketing Specialist of TCT Nanotec, Johnson Lin, said:
“This is our second time attending the China Sourcing Fairs in Shanghai. We
met a lot of professional, quality local and international buyers at the
Fairs. We already received 20 to 30 sales leads from international buyers and
even more from domestic buyers. We are very satisfied with the results and
have already booked the booths for the next Shanghai show.”

Another supplier, Sales Manager of Yiwu Unique Bags & Cases Co., He
Chongyang, said: “We are very satisfied with the quality of buyers we met. In
fact, we even got some orders on site and one of them is worth hundreds of
thousands of US dollars. We are planning to exhibit at the Dubai show and to
participate in the South Africa one, too. We definitely intend to join the
Shanghai show again.”
