Wolf Trap Debuts:
Boasting several debut performances in the second installment of the rollout, with additional acts to come in subsequent March and April announcements, Wolf Trap welcomes The Go-Go’s for the first and last time as they say goodbye to longtime fans during their Farewell Tour. Two time Grammy award-winning and 14-time Latin Grammy award-winning international pop music sensation Alejandro Sanz descends upon Wolf Trap. Also debuting at Wolf Trap is Joshua Bell, performing alongside the National Symphony Orchestra in a program titled Around the World with Joshua Bell and the NSO.
Old Friends… Fresh Performances
Wolf Trap welcomes back a pair of performers who have experienced a relatively lengthy hiatus from the second largest stage in the U.S. — Willie Nelson, outlaw country legend and one of the original Highwaymen, and Michael Franti & Spearhead, reggae-fusion band responsible for the current mainstream hit “Say Hey (I Love You) featured on the soundtrack for the new romantic comedy, When in Rome.
Wolf Trap Favorites
The 2010 summer season is rich with metro-area hometown heroes, featuring local folk icon Mary Chapin Carpenter at Wolf Trap for the first time since 2005, and return performances by Eddie From Ohio, and pop-rock outfit Pat McGee Band. The Gipsy Kings are scheduled for two consecutive performances of their signature pop-inspired flamenco, “Queen of Soul” Aretha Franklin circles back fresh off her Rolling Stone Magazine honor as “The No. 1 Greatest Singer of All Time”, and Sheryl Crow takes the stage for only the third time in Wolf Trap’s history. The Filene Center also hosts a series of the world’s best crooners, pop stars and rock ‘n’ roll legends with Chris Isaak; Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons; the inimitable Jethro Tull; renegade rockers George Thorogood & the Destroyers with the Robert Cray Band; divas Anita Baker and Donna Summer; and Grammy award-winning fusion jazz from Chick Corea, Bela Fleck, and the Edgar Meyer Trio.
Two additional summer 2010 show announcements are scheduled for March 15 and April 19, with respective general public on-sale dates of April 10 and May 8. Past and new Wolf Trap members are eligible for advance tickets beginning the day of each announcement.
