Alpha Rev Named VH1′s ‘You Oughta Know’ Artist on the Rise

BURBANK, Calif., March 17 /PRNewswire/ — Hollywood Records’ recording artist Alpha Rev has been named the next artist to be featured in VH1′s “You Oughta Know” Artist on the Rise series beginning in April. In doing so, the network will put its stamp (literally) on the band’s first video “New Morning” shot by acclaimed director Mark Pellington which goes into heavy rotation on the channel April 5th. Additionally, a dedicated band page at YouOughtaKnow.VH1.com will go live April 1st and be home to the “New Morning” video as well as exclusive interview clips, tour dates, photos and more. Notable artists previously featured in the “You Oughta Know” series include many GRAMMY award nominees and winners including The Killers, Snow Patrol, Adele, Keane, John Legend and Amy Winehouse.

Alpha Rev led by charismatic singer-songwriter Casey McPherson along with Derek Dunivan (guitar), Tommy Roalson (drums), Dave Wiley (cello), Alex Dunlap (bass), Brian Batch (violin) and Derek Morris (keyboards), will make its major label debut on Hollywood Records with New Morning when the album arrives in-stores and online on April 27th. Moody, atmospheric and ultimately redemptive, New Morning which was produced by David Kahne (Paul McCartney, Sublime, The Strokes) examines intimate struggles with despair, isolation and faithlessness, especially in songs like “Colder Months,” “Phoenix Burn,” “Get Out” and the title track.

To kick things off, Alpha Rev –who hail from the Austin area– will be doing a series of performances as part of this year’s SXSW Music Festival beginning March 16th. The schedule is below:
