NEW YORK, March 31 /PRNewswire/ — On Wednesday, February 17th the Netherlands Board of Tourism unveiled their CBS Outdoor New York City subway advertising campaign to the public–with a branded Times Square to Grand Central Shuttle Train.

To celebrate the occasion and bring a little bit of the Netherlands to New York, the world-renowned, Amsterdam-based Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (ranked “top symphony orchestra in the world” by Gramophone magazine) performed live inside New York’s Grand Central Station at the entrance to the Shuttle Gate, as well as inside the actual Shuttle cars. Five members of the RCO performed a beautiful rendition of “Three Canzonas” by Samuel Scheidt. The small performance was part of a larger movement to bring the arts “underground” – an initiative developed by the MTA.

Commuters were taken away by the sights and sounds of Holland as they traveled from station to station, offering a little vacation from the ordinary and an escape from the doldrums of the work week. The message “Just Be. In Holland!” was plastered on subway advertising throughout the interior and exterior of the Shuttle train, and the orchestral experience within the cars definitely made commuters feel like they were there.
