It’s a win-win situation for parents and kids this Mother’s Day as each Renaissance Hotel will have a dedicated chef’s station that includes healthy options as well as indulgent and micro-local indigenous ingredients for the kids to choose from as they make their mom a customized flap jack. Parents will have the chance to dine at their table while the kids are supervised and guided at the pancake station by renowned Renaissance chefs, including the likes of the newest Iron Chef, Jose Garces who also serves as the Renaissance Chicago Blackstone Hotel’s local chef.

“Renaissance is known for our locally indigenous pancake creations and we are excited to help celebrate Mother’s Day by getting the kids involved,” said Tina Edmundson, senior vice president lifestyle brands “They will get the opportunity to discover their inner-culinary talents all while creating a memorable experience that embraces the spirit of the holiday — thanking our mothers.”

In addition to the pancake play station, micro-local pancake dishes will be available on the Mother’s Day brunch menus in select cities and diners can sample a variety of pancakes that feature indigenous ingredients such as:

  • The “New England Johnnycake” at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel includes seasoned bacon greases baked into the batter served to compliment the Lobster Benedict New England favorite.
  • The “Organic Buckwheat Short Stack Pancake” at the Renaissance Washington D.C. Downtown Hotel features local Tuscarora Farm apple compote and McCutcheon’s wildflower honey.
  • “Buttermilk Pancakes with Smoked Bourbon Maple Syrup” at the Renaissance Blackstone Chicago Hotel
  • The “Tres Leches” pancake at the Eden Roc Renaissance Miami Beach featuring caramelized bananas to soothe a sweet tooth.
