Touchdown! North Texas Football Fans are Asked to Select Their Favorite Football Moments
DALLAS, April 15 /PRNewswire/ — From TCU’s Davey O’Brien and SMU’s Doak Walker to the Red River Rivalry of Texas-OU to five Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl championships, North Texas has played host to some of the greatest football moments of the last century. Another chapter in this storied history will be written when the region hosts Super Bowl XLV, to be played at Cowboys Stadium on Feb. 6, 2011.
To commemorate this rich football heritage, the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee has launched www.centuryinthemaking.com. The website allows fans to vote and help select the 100 greatest moments in North Texas football. Voting will be open through mid-September, with results revealed shortly thereafter.
Participants will vote for their favorite football memories in four voting phases online at www.centuryinthemaking.com, including High School, College, Unique/Special Moments and Professional. Voters will be entered to win prizes for each phase of voting, compliments of American Airlines, and all voters will be entered into the grand prize drawing.
At the conclusion of voting, the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee will award one lucky fan a round-trip package to Super Bowl XLV.
Said Bill Lively, President & CEO of the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee: “While most regions plan 2-3 years to host a Super Bowl, it is our belief that North Texas has been laying the groundwork to stage XLV for 100 years. Every Davey O’Brien pass or Doak Walker rush up the middle; every Mean Joe Greene sack at Fouts Field; every unforgettable game under the Friday Night Lights; and every Cowboys championship. These events have bonded North Texas around football and set the stage for it to step into the international spotlight and onto nearly one billion television sets worldwide. For North Texas, Super Bowl XLV has truly been ‘A Century in the Making.’”
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram is the exclusive print partner of Century in the Making, and will make print ballots available for those interested in voting in a more traditional manner. The first special section appeared February 28, and the three additional special sections will be inserted into the paper on April 18, June 6 and July 25.
