Birmingham Author David H. White Releases Latest Novel, A Stroke of Genius
BIRMINGHAM, Ala., May 12 /PRNewswire/ – Regional best-selling author and Birmingham native David H. White announces the release of his fourth book, A Stroke of Genius. The novel is the story of Billy Scott’s quest to play on the PGA Tour, and the relationships that shape his life along the way.
The book was inspired by White’s years as a sports writer in Alabama and North Carolina. “A Stroke of Genius is about the tenacity of champions that I witnessed daily – and the people who guide them behind the scenes,” says White. “Many of the stories I wrote had a great impact on me. I began to dig deeper than the sports themselves, into the lives of athletes: their struggles and aspirations.”
White also met with golfers preparing for the PGA Tour at the Golden State Tour in Beaumont, Calif. “It was important that the details of the game were accurate, and the characters’ experiences were authentic. The whole experience gave me meaningful insight into competition at this level. It’s incredibly difficult to make it to the Pro Tour, especially when you’re balancing training with family.”
A Stroke of Genius is White’s fourth book. His highly acclaimed first book, the regional best-seller Leadership Lessons for Life, examined the key character traits and leadership qualities of a diverse cross-section of Alabama high school coaches. His next, Shorty: A Life in Sports, was a biography of high school football coaching legend George “Shorty” White – who won three Alabama state championships in 14 years at Birmingham’s Banks High School, then coached running backs for “Bear” Bryant at Alabama. In May of 2009, A Man of Character, White’s first fictional book was published.
Stroke, published by CreateSpace, will be available for purchase through Amazon.com, on Davidhwhite.com and in local bookstores for $18.99. ISBN 9781439265215.
