QlikTech Team Pedals on to Raise $25,000 for Charity Through Its Change Their World Program
RADNOR, Pa., June 23 /PRNewswire/ — Leading business intelligence company QlikTech prides itself in its strong corporate culture; one that allows its people to work hard, play hard and support the community with vigor. So it’s no surprise that as more than 20,000 cyclists gathered in Motala, Sweden on June 18 to participate in the Vatternrundan cycling event, thirteen QlikTech executives from the US, UK and Sweden were among them. The team rode 300km (186 miles) in 12 hours to raise money for its “Change Their World” charity, HOPEHIV (www.hopehiv.org). See photos at http://www.qlikview.com/changetheirworld
A QlikTech executive who is personally active in working with the HOPEHIV charity suggested the team raise funds to support the children in Africa who have lost their parents to AIDS. The organization helps more than 50,000 vulnerable children through 40 partner organizations in 400 communities in sub-Saharan Africa.
“So many companies approach corporate social responsibility as simply a matter of writing checks, yet this event proves that QlikTech employees are willing to put their own sweat and efforts to a cause,” said Mark Glen, Director, HOPEHIV. “With over 150 individual donors giving their contributions from $10 and up, QlikTech shows us the resources that can be mobilized from a committed group who set an example and inspire many. We’re thrilled that their efforts will touch so many children’s lives.”
Included in the QlikTech team was the company’s CEO, Lars Bjork who comments: “Spending half a day in a bike saddle is a serious challenge in anyone’s book, but for us it was an opportunity to participate in some healthy competition while raising money for an important charity like HOPEHIV. We’re proud to have gained so much support from our employees, partners, vendors and customers. The whole idea of Change Their World is to draw from the entire QlikTech community for good.”
