Michael Johnson Performance Named Official Training Partner of the Dallas Cowboys
DALLAS, Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ — Michael Johnson Performance today announced it has been named the Official Training Partner of the Dallas Cowboys. Through this unique partnership, Dallas Cowboys players and training staff will leverage the proprietary training programs and technology offered by Michael Johnson Performance (MJP), including:
- Exclusive speed training – developed by MJP Founder Michael Johnson based on his legendary career as an Olympic Gold Medalist and World Record Holder.
- Nike’s patented Sensory Sport Training (SST) – including access to MJP’s Sports Vision Lab, where athletes train to improve their visual capabilities, such as depth perception, peripheral vision and reaction time.
- MJP Functional movement screening program – specifically, providing program orientation to the Cowboys strength and conditioning staff and assisting with the program’s implementation at their request.
In addition to the team support outlined above, Michael Johnson Performance will now also provide all of the speed and agility components offered at Dallas Cowboys Youth Football Camps throughout the year.
Michael Johnson Performance is the brainchild of renowned athlete-turned-entrepreneur Michael Johnson. The centerpiece of the operation is the Michael Johnson Performance Center located at Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas. In just three short years, this state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor training facility has earned an international reputation among Olympians and professional athletes from the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, MLS and PGA. MJP is also renowned for its NFL Combine Preparatory Camp, which has produced seven First Round NFL Draft Picks, as well as current Cowboys stand-outs Tony Romo, Felix Jones and Mark Colombo.
“We are honored to partner with one of the world’s premier sports franchises,” Michael Johnson said. “The Cowboys strength and conditioning staff are obviously the best at what they do. I believe that our experience and proven program offerings will only complement their ongoing efforts. And as a Dallas native and lifelong Cowboys fan, the thought of playing some small role in helping the team achieve its ultimate goal is a huge thrill.”
Cowboys Middle Linebacker Bradie James, who combines his off-season workout regimen at the Cowboys with additional training with the staff at MJP, said: “Michael Johnson Performance has become a key part of my off-season training. My nutrition, movement and explosiveness have all improved, and I see the changes on the field. Training at MJP has elevated my game.”
According to Lance Walker, director of performance at MJP and a protege of Dallas Cowboys Strength and Conditioning Coach Joe Juraszek, this partnership is also a great opportunity for trainers from both organizations to share best practices.
“Having honed my skills as a member of Coach Juraszek’s staff, I know that simply being around someone of his caliber will help our staff increase their overall knowledge and understanding of training at the professional team level,” Walker said.
Michael Johnson Performance is also the official training partner of the Dallas Stars (NHL) and Football Club “FC” Dallas (MLS). In addition to its personalized programs for professional athletes, MJP trains thousands of elite youth athletes (ages 10 to 18) each year in a variety of sports, building their speed, agility, strength and stamina for improved performance on the field, court, track or ice.
