California Dermatologists to Help Golfers Play Safe in the Sun at CVS/pharmacy LPGA Challenge

DANVILLE, Calif., Oct. 11 /PRNewswire/ — United by the mission to curb the incidence of skin cancer, a team of volunteers representing the Women’s Dermatologic Society (WDS) will provide free skin cancer screenings, sun damage assessments and sun safety education to golf fans enjoying the CVS/pharmacy LPGA Challenge in Danville, CA from October 15-17. The local husband and wife physician team of Sonia Badreshia-Bansal, MD, a board-certified dermatologist, and Vivek Bansal, MD, a board-certified plastic surgeon, will lead the outreach in the WDS tent located in the Exhibition Village near the 18th green of the Blackhawk Country Club in Danville. Free skin checks will be offered to tournament fans on Friday, October 15 and Saturday, October 16 from 9 am- 3 pm and on Sunday, October 17, from 9 am-12 pm.

This volunteer service is part of a 3-year community outreach campaign, Play Safe in the Sun, collaboratively supported by L’Oreal USA. The program draws from the organization’s membership to promote sun safety among outdoor sports enthusiasts. Michel McDonald, MD (Nashville, TN) and Adrienne Stewart, MD (Denver, CO) lead the WDS Service Committee, which oversees this award-winning campaign.
