Hope Community Church Sponsors Classic Rock Concert to Benefit Central Africa

October 14, 2010

RALEIGH, N.C., Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ — “Changing Central Africa,” a benefit concert being sponsored by Raleigh’s Hope Community Church on Oct. 17, will help provide sustainable agriculture, fresh water and education to those in the Central African Republic. The event, featuring classic rock music by local bands, is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Longbranch, Raleigh’s largest indoor concert hall.

SideWinder will headline the benefit concert, with Band of Brothers opening the performance. All of the proceeds will go to the Integrated Community Development International (ICDI) in Africa to buy well-drilling equipment. The ICDI is run by American Jim Hocking, who has transformed the lives of native tribes throughout the region by providing fresh water free of disease and contamination.

“We are encouraged to get support from local efforts such as the ‘Changing Central Africa’ benefit concert in Raleigh and community-based churches like Hope,” said Ted Rondeau, chief development officer of ICDI. “It’s these efforts that impact the lives of hundreds of people across the world and bring real, sustainable change to Central Africa.”

ICDI is a non-denominational, non-governmental and non-profit faith-based organization presently working in the Central African Republic and other surrounding countries. ICDI has 501(c)(3) status in the United States, as well as tax-exempt NGO status in the Central African Republic.

Tickets to the benefit concert are $25 per person and can be purchased online at www.gethope.net or at the Hope Community Church ministry counter during the weekend services of Oct 16 and 17. Event tickets are also available at the Longbranch’s box office.

The event at Longbranch is open to those ages 16 or older with identification. The Longbranch is located at 608 Creekside Drive, Raleigh, N.C., just a half mile inside the Raleigh Beltline (I-440) at the Wake Forest Road exit.
