Heart to Heart International Climbs the Prestigious ‘Philanthropy 400′ List
OLATHE, Kan., Oct. 21 /PRNewswire/ — Heart to Heart International Inc., one of America’s most efficient humanitarian organizations, today announced that it was once again ranked near the top half of the “Philanthropy 400,” an annual analysis of America’s top nonprofits by the Chronicle of Philanthropy.
Heart to Heart ranked #208 on the “Philanthropy 400,” up six slots from its 2008 listing, and was the only non-collegiate Kansas nonprofit organization to be included. The list was generated with data from the 2009 fiscal year.
“This designation speaks significantly to how much our constituents value the humanitarian mission of Heart to Heart, as well as the trust they place in us to efficiently and effectively steward their contributions,” said Andre Butler, CEO, Heart to Heart International. “For that, we are deeply honored.”
Since 1992, Heart to Heart has delivered aid worth more than $700 million in U.S. wholesale value to more than 100 countries, including the United States. Despite the global recession, Heart to Heart was able to generate nearly $108M in private support in 2009 — much of it donations of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.
In addition to the “Philanthropy 400″ acclaim, the organization was named to the Forbes magazine listing of “America’s 200 Largest Charities” in 2009 for the third consecutive year, ranking number two in the categories of fundraising efficiency and charitable commitment. The honor followed additional accolades from the Cone Report, where Heart to Heart was designated as one of 100 Nonprofit Power Brands.
