Mummies of the World & CEO Marc Corwin Make $25,000 Donation to Childrens Hospital Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ — Mummies of the World, the largest exhibition of mummies ever assembled, made a charitable donation of $25,000 to the Childrens Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) in a special ceremony on Friday, Oct. 15 at the California Science Center.
Marc Corwin (left), CEO of American Exhibitions Inc., presented the check to Arnold J. Kleiner (left center), Vice Chair of the CHLA Board and president and general manager of KABC-TV 7. Joining in the celebration were Stana Katic (far right), star of ABC’s hit drama series “Castle” and a volunteer supporter of CHLA, and Gabriel Acevedo, CHLA outpatient (right center). The gift will be used to support CHLA’s The Childrens Fund.
Since its World Premiere on July 1, Mummies of the World has become one of the most successful paid exhibit openings in the Science Center’s 13-year history.
Mummies of the World presents a never-before-seen collection of naturally and intentionally preserved mummies. Showcasing human and animal mummies from South America, Europe, Asia, Oceania and Egypt, the exhibition transforms public perceptions that mummification occurs only in Ancient Egypt. Through this collection of 150 mummies and related artifacts, visitors learn how mummification occurs through natural processes. On display are naturally preserved mummies from bogs, caves, cellars, deserts and other environments in addition to more familiar, intentionally preserved mummies of Ancient Egypt.
The exhibition is currently in its final weeks at the Science Center, open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT. Tickets are available for purchase at www.californiasciencecenter.org. Mummies of the World makes its Midwest debut at the Milwaukee Public Museum on December 17, 2010. For more Information, please visit www.mummiesoftheworld.com.
