Now thru December 24th – Daily from 10:00 am thru 10:00 pm – Red Kettle Season

More than 100 kettles are placed at various sites throughout Allegheny County with a goal of $810,000. Check The Salvation Army’s website for exact locations and how to give online at OnlineRedKettle.com. Vector Security and 3WS Radio are the official kettle sponsors. Additional volunteers and kettle sites are always needed.

Sponsors are now in the process of selecting and purchasing holiday gifts for needy families in Allegheny County. Sponsors are matched through a Salvation Army social worker to an approved family who is in a crisis situation. Gifts will be collected at the Forbes Avenue location @ 1323 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, 15219 from December 1-11. Gifts will be distributed from December 1st through December 17th from 9:00 am thru 3:00 pm from the same location.

Walmart and The Salvation Army are partnering in the Red Kettle effort again this year, as the Walmart Stores in Allegheny County challenge each other for the most dollars raised in the Red Kettle at their store. Festivities are to be held at the Robinson Township Walmart. Enjoy a hot drink. Last year, these selected stores raised more than $100,000 through their Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign. For more than 30 years, PPG employees have helped to support more than 2,600 children annually. Toys will be picked up from the below PPG locations and transported to The Salvation Army’s Greentree Warehouse, located @ 820 Parish Street.

Nearly 2,000 needy and lonely people will be served a first-rate holiday meal. Participating hosts are: The Westin Convention Center; The Omni William Penn; the Sheraton Station Square; and the University of Pittsburgh (12:00-noon thru 2:00 pm). More than 300 volunteers assist in serving. This is the 25th year of this program.
