LEGACY, a Riveting Psychological Action-Thriller Starring Idris Elba (Obsessed, Takers, ‘The Wire’) in an Oscar Worthy Performance, Will Premiere on DVD Nationwide on December 28
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 8, 2010 /PRNewswire/ — LEGACY, an October 2010 U.S. theatrical release starring Idris Elba (Obsessed, Takers, “The Wire,” American Gangster) will be released nationwide on DVD on December 28. Powered by Elba’s “Oscar worthy … genius performance” (Examiner.com) as a tormented former black ops soldier, LEGACY is an action-infused psychological thriller that will leave audiences on the edge of their seats. Its strong ensemble cast includes Eamonn Walker (HBO’s “Oz,” “Cadillac Records”), Monique Gabriela Curnen (The Dark Knight, Half Nelson) and Clarke Peters (HBO’s “Treme,” “The Wire”).
Distributed by Codeblack Entertainment, the DVD will be priced at $19.99 suggested retail.
Praised for its “smart, creative filmmaking, fine acting, and a taut, solid script” (NBC), LEGACY has been showcased at leading international festivals throughout 2010. Its World Premiere was at the 2010 Glasgow Film Festival, its U.S. Premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, and it was an Official Selection at the Chicago International Film Festival, among others.
LEGACY was written, directed, co-produced and co-edited by Thomas Ikimi, a young British filmmaker who raised the entire production and post-production budget in his homeland of Nigeria. Idris Elba joined the project as its star and also as executive producer, alongside Black Camel producers Arabella Page-Croft and Kieran Parker.
In LEGACY, Idris Elba portrays Malcolm Gray, a decorated anti-terrorist black-ops soldier who is captured and tortured when a military effort to bring down an international arms dealer goes horribly awry. After barely surviving this traumatizing incident, Gray finds himself back in his Brooklyn apartment struggling to overcome the effects of severe paranoia and anxiety. Isolated and left alone to cope with his demons, Gray reflects on the inconsistencies of the assignment gone wrong – and starts to question the loyalties of his own brother, a popular U.S. senator on the verge of launching a presidential campaign.
