tmg-e*media Announces the Launch of the First-Ever Girl Scout® Cookie Locator Mobile App
NEW YORK, Jan. 27, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Today, tmg-e*media, Inc., announced the launch of the first-ever Girl Scout® Cookie Locator Mobile app. The Little Brownie Bakers project was led by Anna Murray, a tmg-e*media principal, whose team developed the mobile phone app that allows consumers to search for Girl Scout® Cookie sales using their mobile phones.
Anna Murray had this to say about the Little Brownie Baker project, “The Girl Scout® Cookie Sale is first and foremost about girls and families. We are proud to have participated in this Little Brownie project that effectively closes the distance between girls selling cookies and consumers who want them.”
A consumer who downloads the free iPhone® or Android app can type in his or her city, state, zip or search using the phone’s GPS feature. The app then delivers the consumer a list of upcoming Cookie Booth Sales, an activity organized by Girl Scout® troops and councils at local venues, such as a malls and supermarkets. Girls and leaders go on-site to these pre-arranged locales and sell cookies. Participating Councils provide all booth sales listing data to the app.
The free app is currently available on the iPhone® App Store and is among the “New and Noteworthy” iPhone® Apps of this week in the Lifestyle category. The app will be released for Android this week. In addition, there is a mobile site with the same functionality as the app available at: http://mobile.littlebrownie.com.
