Energetiq Technology Named Prism Award Winner by SPIE and Laurin Publishing at SPIE Photonics West 2011
WOBURN, Mass., Jan. 31, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Energetiq Technology, Inc., a developer and manufacturer of ultrahigh-brightness light sources for advanced technology applications, has been named by SPIE and Laurin Publishing the winner of the 2011 Prism Award for Photonics Innovation in the product category of Other Light Sources.
Winners of the Prism Awards, the premier competition for the photonics industry worldwide, were announced January 26, 2011 at a banquet in the Moscone Center in San Francisco held during SPIE Photonics West.
Energetiq won the award for its EQ-99 LDLS(TM) Laser-Driven Light Source which is a highly stable source of broadband deep ultraviolet, visible, and near-infrared light that has a lifetime of 10-times that of conventional lamps. The EQ-99 is ideal for use in analytical applications such as HPLC, spectroscopy, biological imaging, and any application requiring ultra-long lamp life.
The Prism Awards is an annual competition that recognizes the best in innovative technology within the multi-billion dollar business of optics and photonics. A panel of independent judges acknowledged as experts in their respective fields selected the winners from more than 80 entries.
Paul Blackborow, CEO of Energetiq said, “The Laser-Driven Light Sources developed by the team at Energetiq are enabling a new generation of spectrometric and imaging instruments as customers take advantage of the brightness, spectral range, and longevity of our technology. We are delighted to be honored by such prestigious organizations as SPIE and Laurin Publishing for our contribution to the advancement of photonics.”
“The successful launch of the Photonics Prism Awards demonstrates how committed we are to the future of photonics technology and its impact on the planet for years to come,” said Thomas Laurin, vice president of Laurin Publishing. SPIE CEO Eugene Arthurs added, “These winning inventions demonstrate the remarkable creativity of the photonics community, the restless inventive energy that is what SPIE is all about. I expect that many of these or their derivatives will be successful new products — the lifeblood of any company. They will help customers be more effective and so be a part of the great photonics enterprise that has already contributed so much to enhance our lives and that will play an increasingly important role in a sustainable future.”
