WFN: World Fishing Network Launches Search for Ultimate Fishing Town USA
DENVER, Feb. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Ask an angler the best place to fish and most will tell you about a hidden gem in their backyard. WFN: World Fishing Network, North America’s only 24-hour fishing lifestyle network, is posing the question through a nationwide contest and awarding a $25,000 prize, a featured show about their town on WFN and more to the community selected as WFN’s Ultimate Fishing Town USA.
Beginning March 1, WFN is accepting nominations from anglers who feel they fish in WFN’s Ultimate Fishing Town USA. In addition to the national recognition and a $25,000 donation for fishing-related cause(s), the town will also receive 10 WaveSpin Reels plus a tourism boost from the WFN show.
The promotion is being supported by Eagle Claw, manufacturers of fishing gear and tackle in the USA since 1925, and WaveSpin Reels, the only reel with a tangle-free guarantee. Charter Communications, Knology and AT&T U-verse are supporting it through various marketing tactics. Baseball great and avid angler Mike Schmidt will serve as the spokesperson to encourage anglers to nominate their town.
“No matter if they love to fish in a small rural community or a tourist mecca, we encourage everyone to nominate their favorite fishing spot,” said Shauna Gosevitz, Sr. Director of Marketing for WFN. “We look forward to hearing their stories and letting the people choose WFN’s Ultimate Fishing Town USA.”
People can nominate their town from March 1 – April 8, at www.wfnfishingtown.com. Nominations may include photos, videos and essays about why their town should be WFN’s Ultimate Fishing Town USA. The first round of voting is open from April 12 – May 3. Twenty (20) finalists — the top two entries in each of the seven regions plus six “wild cards” advance to the final round of voting in May. The results will be announced in June at a ceremony in the winning community.
