United States Bartenders’ Guild and Sponsor 42BELOW Vodka Pin Guinness World Records® for Most Cocktails Made in an Hour

CORAL GABLES, Fla., Feb. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — On Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, prior to the 42BELOW Cocktail World Cup U.S. Final, history was made at the ACE Hotel. An eight man team of cocktail wizards achieved a feat never completed by another group of men and set the Guinness World Records achievement for most cocktails – minimum of three ingredients – made in one hour by a team. When all was said and done 1,541 cocktails lined the tables wall-to-wall.

The United States Bartenders’ Guild and 42BELOW Vodka built their history making “cocktail dream team” that included: finalists from the 2011 Cocktail World Cup Aaron Butler of Russell House Tavern in Boston, Jason Hughes of the Cosmopolitan Hotel Las Vegas. Also, brought in for the challenge was 2010 Team USA Cocktail World Cup team members Sean Hoard of Teardrop in Portland, Ore., Todd Thrasher of PX in Washington, D.C. and Mark Stoddard of Bitter Bar in Denver, Colo. Last, but certainly not least, the team was rounded out by 42BELOW Brand Ambassadors, Borys Saciuk, Raj Nagra and former 42BELOW Vodka Professor, Jacob Briars.

As a boisterous crowd poured into the ACE Hotel’s Liberty Hall the team dexterously prepped their cocktail making assembly line in anticipation of their fantastic feat. The cocktail creation stations began to take the form of a hybrid cocktail bar/farmers market as bushels of fresh limes, lemons, grapefruits, oranges, cucumbers, mint and basil bunches, and martini olives, filled gaps in the work space in between 108 bottles of 42BELOW Vodka.

With the stage set, the official timekeepers tuned their stopwatches, as the performers took their places and the horn sounded – the show began. Each barman moved harmoniously toward one goal, squeezing limes and twisting lemons, while swiftly moving on to the next libation.

As the final drop of cocktail 1,541 was poured, the clock stopped and the crowed collectively cheered as the team of cocktail conjuror’s did not disappoint. They forever etched their names into the Guinness World Records creating 1,541 cocktails in one hour.
