Honey Bunches of Oats’ Original Sitcom Debuts on Bitbop Mobile TV App with Stellar Cast

AUSTIN, Texas, March 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — SXSW (Gdgt) — Jesta Digital and Post Foods, LLC announced today the first original mobile content series, available on Bitbop, the commercial free, on-demand mobile TV service. The eight-episode original comedy series, directed by Drew Antzis of FunnyorDie.com fame, was written and produced by Omelet, an agency known for innovation and creativity.

Beginning in April, more than 12 million Honey Bunches of Oats cereal boxes will offer free trials of the Bitbop service, by simply scanning the QR code on the back of the box with their mobile device. Consumers can view the “Honey and Joy” series, set in a Honey Bunches of Oats factory, online at www.Bitbop.com as well as via the mobile application m.bitbop.com.

The Bitbop mobile application is available for free download to millions of BlackBerry®, Android, and Windows Phone 7 smartphone users in the U.S. The series is free to view on Bitbop and consumers can also choose to subscribe for access to commercial-free, premium content from top broadcast and cable providers.

The show stars Andree Vermeulen as “Honey” and Hope Banks as “Joy.” The cast also includes Randee Heller from Mad Men, Colton Dunn and Johnny Sanchez of Mad TV and Jeff Lewis of The Guild. OK Go appears in an episode in which Honey and Joy dream they are attending an OK Go show as the band performs their song, “White Knuckles.”
