TRX® Introduces the TRX® Rip(TM) Trainer, the First Line Extension to Its Functional Training Line-up
SAN FRANCISCO, March 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — TRX®, the training company, and creators of Suspension Training® bodyweight exercise, has announced its first product line extension. To date, TRX has established its leadership position in the functional training space through a comprehensive offering of TRX Suspension Training based gear, programming content, and hands-on professional education. The addition of the TRX Rip(TM) Trainer further expands the company’s ability to deliver functional and innovative training for individuals of all fitness levels and abilities.
The TRX Rip Trainer is a 40-inch, commercial-grade bar with a sheathed elastic resistance cord that can attach to either one or both sides; the bar collapses for easy portability and comes with a door anchor, Basic Training DVD and guidebook. Created by a Peter Holman, a two-time US National Tae Kwon Do champion, Physical Therapist and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, the TRX Rip Trainer uses the asymmetrical loading of the resistance cord to constantly challenge one’s balance and force maximum muscle recruitment. Like the Suspension Trainer, the Rip Trainer is lightweight, weighing less than four pounds, easy to set up, incredibly versatile, and it allows anyone at any fitness level to get a full body workout.
“The Rip Training methodology is a perfect complement to Suspension Training and an ideal extension to our ongoing mission to offer effective and efficient functional training solutions,” said Randy Hetrick, Founder and CEO of TRX. “We have always been much more than a single-product company, but I was only willing to add another training tool if it met our high standards for proven performance, quality and versatility; it had to be equally effective for average exercisers, elite athletes and military personnel. Integrating the Rip Trainer into our product line made perfect sense because of our shared mission to democratize world class training.”
While the TRX Suspension Trainer is a training tool that builds total body stability and strength by leveraging the user’s bodyweight through hundreds of functional exercises, the TRX Rip Trainer develops explosive power and rotational movements. The TRX Rip Trainer emphasizes rotation through spiral movement in all three planes of motion. Since resistance cord tension loads are lower than bodyweight loads, the Rip Trainer enables users to more readily focus on speed and ballistic power. By using the TRX Rip Trainer, individuals can strengthen the muscles around the spinal cord, making them more stable and less likely to be easily injured.
“Since we conceived of the Rip Trainer and brought it to market, we had watched TRX become one of the biggest innovators in the fitness industry,” said TRX Rip Trainer inventor Peter Holman. “Not only had they created their own category, but they had also maintained leadership by providing the best programming, exercises, and support. We are excited to bring Rip Training to more and more people, and joining the TRX family definitely gives us the platform and resources to reach the perfect customer base.”
The addition of the Rip Trainer to TRX’s product line-up is one of many big events for the company in the past year. In January, TRX launched a new evolution in training education with the TRX TV online video franchise. TRX TV provides streaming video featuring new workouts, movements and progressions, allowing consumers and trainers to receive a constant flow of innovative ideas they can integrate into their workouts. In late 2010, the United States Department of Defense purchased 24,000 TRX Suspension Trainers that were distributed to deploying U.S. Military brigades and battalions.
At TRX, our mission is to democratize world class training. We are committed to helping our customers achieve peak physical condition by creating exceptional physical training products and exercise programs that can be used anywhere. We will earn the trust of the world’s most demanding consumers by creating best-in-class products that deliver results, not promises.
Since its introduction to the marketplace in 2005, the TRX has proven to be the ideal solution for personal, small and large group functional training and has been rolled out in top gyms across the country, including Crunch, Urban Active, and YMCAs. It is used and trusted by trainers, athletes, physical therapists, and all branches of the military. Its popularity with professional athletes and team training rooms is exploding across the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, UFC and NCAA. The performance training community, including world class conditioning coaches such as Todd Durkin and Mark Verstegen, and elite personal trainers like Gunnar Petersen and Bob Harper are embracing TRX as a tried and true fitness method appropriate for all fitness levels.
