Volunteers Needed for Overnight Relay Event May 14 & 15
AUSTIN, Texas, March 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Beyond Batten Disease Foundation is recruiting volunteers for the first-ever overnight relay event, Run to the Sun. The relay will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 14th at Mount Bonnell and runners will wind their way through the Hill Country before finishing at Enchanted Rock State Park on Sunday morning, May 15th. The sunrise finale will include gospel singers, breakfast and activities for runners, their families and volunteers.
“Volunteers have always made our events possible. Without them we could not support the 250+ runners that are helping us achieve our mission of eradicating this fatal childhood disease and hundreds of rare conditions like it,” said Suzanne Kho, Executive Director of the Foundation.
Both experienced and novice runners are participating in the relay. Each team can have up to eight runners and they are all raising funds for Beyond Batten Disease Foundation in addition to their run training. The organization is providing training and fundraising support to help all of the teams accomplish their goals.
Volunteers are essential to hosting a successful event and are needed to help with set-up and tear-down, route support, exchange point check-ins, and start and finish activities. To join the fun and support this important effort through volunteering a few hours of your time, or to make a much-needed donation, visit www.runtothesunrelay.com.
